Sue's interview with idealskeptic about her fic 'Yellow Rose'

AH/AU. Set in the US in 1865. Alice Brandon is alone when the Civil War comes to her. As a volunteer nurse, she helps heal many soldiers. One in particular, Major Jasper Hale, stands out. What does life have in mind for Alice & Jasper in the 1860s?
Twilight - Rated: M - English - Drama/Romance - Chapters: 1 - Words: 4,037 - Reviews: 13 - Published: 11-9-11 - Alice & Jasper

it is RARE that I talk about Twific that is not an Edward/Bella pairing. Mostly because most of the fics I read are Edward/Bella and those are the ones that are recc'd to me.

This fic was rec'd to me by Autumn because of my love of historical stories. I love them. you know this people that tell me to read fics know this historical fic is my thing

This one is a neat one. Great time period and so far only 1 chapters but it is a  really really good chapter. Very descriptive. It sets a scene in a very frightening time of  American history, in the South during the Civil War. What I like so far is the set up we have going on here .

A farm. A battle going on. Alice hiding. She is alone, a young woman. When she comes out of her hiding spot she sees the carnage around her. She is a doctors daughter and has seen hurt people before but this is so horrible. She wants to help all of them but so many are beyond help. Then she comes upon a young man who is trapped under a horse, barely conscious.

Some other men are there helping the injured men. She calls them over and offers up her home as a temporary haven for the wounded. They all get to work preparing the home and men for surgery and that is where we are at right now.

I look forward to seeing where this will take us. I like that she is sticking pretty close to the history of the time. I like that this Alice is not going to be the giddy bouncy super shopper of most fic Alices. SO if you are in the mood for reading a different pairing this one is the one to try.

Sue's interview with Gingerandgreen about ''Plight Thee my Troth'

Plight Thee My Troth

England, 1795. Lord Edward Masen and Miss Isabella Swan promise to love one another for all time; but will the harsh realities of life allow two souls from very different backgrounds to fulfil their vows? EPOV, AH
Twilight - Rated: M - English - Drama/Romance - Chapters: 5 - Words: 27,413 - Reviews: 272 - Updated: 10-23-11 - Published: 9-4-11 - Edward & Bella

I was minding my own business just lurking on Twitter and Perrymaxwell said to her followers to read this story. The first chapter had just posted and minutes after it was announced I was reading and I am so thankful for the rec.

This fic is set in Regency times. It is told from his POV. We get to see her life from his eyes. He casts himself as her savior. Many readers will not like most of the men in this story because of how they stick with the thoughts of the time period.

You all know why I love historical fic right? Because the cannon characteristics fit best in another time period. I love reading different authors takes on these characters and seeing them put in the various situations in the past.

The more chapters I read the more I know that things in this fic are not as they appear at first and I wonder what our author has in store for us. So far it is amazing and when I get to the end of the chapter I am all sad that there is no more to read

She updates regularly every two weeks. Yes, you have to wait two weeks in between updates but for a fic this good it is well worth.

You know what to do now. Read the interview, go read the fic and leave her some reviews. Don't forget to come back and let me know what you think as well.

Sue's Interview with rpgirl27 about her fic 'Off The Beaten Path'

Bella is on a mission to change her life. Will a tiny school in a small mountain town offer her a new beginning? And why does every one want her to stay out of the woods? Set in the 1920s/30s. AH ExB MountainmanWard Rated M for violence/language/sex.
Twilight - Rated: M - English - Romance/Drama - Chapters: 16 - Words: 75,042 - Reviews: 1145 - Updated: 9-20-11 - Published: 5-23-11 - Edward & Bella

As you should all know by now I adore a good historical fic. There is something about being put in another time that, for me, is the ultimate escape. I also find it fascinating how the typical characteristics of Twilight fit so well in the past.

So when I heard that rpgirl27 was writing another fic and it was gonna be a historical one I was thrilled. This fic is set in 20s/30s. I have been reading it since the beginning and have loved every chapter.

This Bella is a tough independent thinker. However she is stuck in a time that does not want women to be this way. She is hired by the Cullen family to be the teacher at their school. She moves cross country to live with the head of the town (Carlisle and his family) Edward is a member of a secluded mountain community, made up of mostly farmers trying to continue their lifestyle and stay out of working in the mines that are owned by the Cullens. This story is part history, part romance, part clash of social classes.

Now why do I think it is worth the read? It has adventure and romance and enough history to keep you entertained. Oh and the sexin is not bad either!

You know what to do my dears. Give it a read, give the author some feedback and then come and let me know what you think. Is this the kind of story you like to see rec'd here? Read on to find out more about Off the Beaten Path (slight warning some of the pics in this post are NSFW nothing too graphic but probably not for viewing at work or around children)

SUEs interview with Symphiann about her fic 'Blue Satin and Cowboy Boots'

There were 4 unwritten laws in Forks during 1883.1-you listened to your Pa.2-You worshipped God.3-You did your chores without complaint.4-You stayed away from the Cullen brothers. I had no problems with those laws until a pair of green eyes looked my way.
Twilight - Rated: M - English - Romance/Drama - Chapters: 9 - Words: 25,626 - Reviews: 291 - Updated: 9-17-11 - Published: 7-13-11 - Bella & Edward

I found this story because it was listed in an archive of historical Twifics. I was excited to find something new out there being written and currently updated.
This is a cute story that has part mystery about the "bad boys". You never really find out what it is that they have done just that the good town people say to stay away from them.

Bella in this story is a simple farm girl whose life is chores and more chores. She is getting to be a grown woman and is expected to be courted by young men, especially Mike who is a wealthy mans son.

She is not interested in Mike. The man she is interested in is Edward. He has been nice to her and in her mind she does not see why the townspeople think he is a trouble maker. He has been nothing but polite to her.

The blue satin comes in because the general store has a bolt of this very pretty fancy fabric that is not at all what a practical farmers daughter would even own.

So why do I like it? I adore the little interludes between Edward and Bella that are completely innocent. We are talking a few moments here and there during the story usually in a crowd of people so no one can question anything that has happened between them.

I like how Bella is questioning the opinions of her community because of her limited interaction with this young man. And, well, it's just a cute escape fic that is well told

Now you know what to do. Give it a read, let the author know what you think and then come on back here and tell me if you agree with me!

Here is my interview with Symphiann:

Sue's interview with Savage7279 about her fic 'Unexpected Circumstances'

SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT

IF you do not want to know details about the story skip over my comments and go right to the interview OR just go read the fic already
MORE WARNINGS
This post contains pics that are NSFW and should not be viewed at WORK or around children YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BIG shocker for my readers here at SYTYCW
SUE LOVES a well written historical romance. TODAYS rec is Unexpected Circumstances by Savage.
As you guessed our ever changing Edward is a knight and he wins himself a bride by winning a tournament. He is given the choice by the king that he can pick any eligible maiden. Everyone at the tournament expects him to choose the princess.
He chooses the handmaiden of the princess and ROYALLY pisses off, well, the royalty. It is here where the fun begins. (get your minds outta the gutter)
He marries the handmaiden much to the chagrin of the royal family.
She is a young virgin and he is well not. THIS is not something our Prince expected he thought she would be as loose a woman as the princess. WRONG She was too busy sewing and fetching bath water to be making hey in the hay loft with the stable boys. Poor Edward, he is gonna have to train his wife and she is shy and well, lets be honest, frightened of him. After all she is 16 and he is 25. She has always been a servant and he can decide whether people live or die! He wants her to ready and willing in her own time. BUT FIRST he has to win her trust because lets face it, no matter how pretty Edward is if you are scared shitless of him and do not know what to expect, you are not gonna wanna be banging him like a drum!
Now just because the fic has not gotten to the sexy yet does not mean that it won't. This is Savage we are talking about here. (you know Hide and Drink, Surviving Bella) I have complete faith that it will get to the sexy VERY soon. In the mean time this fic gives us some mighty HOT kissing and some lovely introduction to intimacy for our shy young Bella.
NOW before you start saying GRoSS 16 and 25 I have to say get over it. This is a period fic. Women were often betrothed at age 14 or younger. By age 16 she would have been popping out babies
WHY do I like this fic? Well in it we have intrigue, suspense and a clumsy Bella that is not the stereotype. Her clumsiness comes more from her class distinction. She goes from being servant to wife of a prince. A WHOLE different set of rules that Edward was foolish enough to NOT prepare her for.
WHAT IS IT WITH MEN and their lack of communication!
SO if you, like me, enjoy a good period fic with sexy consequences and you like politics set in an era of knights and kings THIS is the fic for you.
ALSO the pics contained in this post are MY wishful thinking. I am not saying they have happened in the fic its just my imagination running WILD
Sue's Interview with TKegl about her fic 'Beyond Time'
After the Cullens leave Forks, a twist of fate lands Bella in Chicago in 1918. She thinks it's a second chance to build a life with Edward, but when she finds him, he's not quite what she expected. Can Bella create the future she's hoping for?
I had my reservations reading this fic. It was rec'd heavily on Twitter by Spanglmaker9. I gave it a shot because well, lets face it she, has not steered me wrong yet ..
Why did I have reservations? Well it starts out as a New Moon fic. I did not like New Moon -  the original. I also do not like Vampire fics. (I know, I know. SUE you read TWIFIC! WTF is wrong with you not liking vampires?? I just don't *shrugs*)
For me the saving grace of this fic is that it gives Modern Day Bella a chance to see life in the world that MADE Edward.
The fic starts out after Edward has left in New Moon. Bella goes on a spirit quest and somehow ends up in the past. This for me is where the fun begins.
She ends up in Chicago and tries to figure out WHY she is there. She figures that since she does not have Edward in the future she will have him in the past.
Now comes the hard part. This human Edward is not the same Edward she remembers. HER Edward is well more refined. I guess you could say he is more controlled, he has years of living as an immortal. This new Edward is 17. He is human, he is flawed, he is a product of his time.
How will a thoroughly modern Bella fit in the world at the turn of the century?
Will human Edward fall for her? How long will she be in the past?
I love this fic it made me cry, it made me laug,h it made me wanna slap Edward for his sexist ways. It made me wanna slap Bella for trying to force her time on the past. It is a great read ! give it a try you will not regret it
Sue's interview with DeJeanSmith about her fic 'Evermore Experience'
You guessed it, SUE is recing another historical romance.
This one however has a bit of a twist. It is mystery romance - time travel - supernatural all wrapped into one package.
The best thing about this story I have to say is the character "L". I love her. Really, really love her. From what I have read she is the key to this story. Her personality and heart and turn of phrase will have you just wanting her for your auntie too!
SO WHY does SUE think you should read this fic?
Well for one thing it is one of those relatively unknown little stories. It grabs you, sucks you in, makes you want more. Now if you are not fond of waiting for answers to your mystery then by all means put it on alert and once it is complete give it a read. The great thing is she updates pretty regularly, so even if you wanna read it as a WIP, you will not be waiting months in between updates.
The story follows Bella who gets a chance to go live the Evermore Experience. It is billed as a complete immersion program. Participants are giving a character with a background so they can experience life as it was during this time. And HERE is where the magic happens!
I look forward to the updates from this fic. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. So enough of my rambles, lets see what I learned when I interviewed DeJeanSmith!
Sue's Interview with Melolabel about her fic 'A New Frontier'
BannerFans.com
 A New Frontier by Melolabel
A while back I did this interview. When I say a WHILE back I am not kidding. This interview was originally posted on our old blog and accidentally did not get moved - opps. Our fault, but HERE we bring it back to you.
It will come as NO surprise that SUE has a great affinity for period fics. I love historical drama AND THIS one, well, lets just say that it takes a different look at the side characters of the Twi stuff and it made me giggle like crazy.
Think about it. They live on a farm. Where would the side characters come into play in family life?
Well, here we have Alice and Jasper as horses, Rose and Emmett are a cow and a bull, the mean girls are chickens (as a former chicken farmer I LOVE THAT)
This is not say that this fic does not have it's drama and some angst. It does! It also has a great show of love and a terrific story that makes for a lovely rainy afternoon escape.
SO lets see what I learned about the author and her story. OH and you are going to want to check out her other stories because I love Melly and she writes some great fun stuff. Especially a fic she wrote with Belly (BellaMadonna1) called The Marksman.
Swimom7's interview with Javamomma0921 about 'All That Jazz'
It’s 1919.  Meet Bella and Alice Swan.  Their father died when they were very young and their mother was a recent victim of the Spanish influenza in Philadelphia.  Although it is questionable who was truly the victim: Renee Swan or her youngest daughter, Bella.  Raised to believe that she could only hope to be her husband’s servant, Bella is unprepared for the new ideas that the Jazz age is bringing with it.  What will happen when Bella and Alice leave everything they know in Philadelphia to live with their Aunt Esme, the mother’s “brazen” older sister?  Who will they meet? How will their lives and ideals change?
This is the summary of All That Jazz on Twilighted.net and Fanfiction.net by Javamomma0921, an amazing period piece set in the 1920s Age of Jazz.  The country is about to enter into the Great Depression, the Flappers are in prolific supply as women begin their amazing emancipation from the Victorian Era.
Enter one Bella Swan.  Sister to Alice Swan, orphans of the Spanish Influenza and a domineering mother who refused to move forward with the times.  While the exuberant Alice finds herself eager to embrace her new life with her Aunt Esme, Bella, the more reticent, more reluctant sister is confused and dismayed at her new life.  How is she to act?  React?  Her dead mother would surely not approve.
Enter Edward Anthony Masen, son of Esme and Carlisle’s good friends the Masens.  As a future lawyer, he is hired to teach the girls their lessons, but when Bella literally stumbles into his life one day as he is expressing himself on the piano with the new Jazz music, he is smitten, and Bella is spellbound.
In a time where the touch of a fingertip on a wrist was all that it took to start the blood boiling; where a look or a pressing of thigh against thigh was stolen in the back of the new-fangled automobiles, Edward and Bella learn to control their desires, and explore their love.
All That Jazz by Javamomma0921, who’s real name is Jen, brings you back to the Golden Age where stolen kisses were taboo and courting was the norm.  Javamomma0921 builds the anticipation better than anyone I’ve ever read and makes hand-holding as hot as some of the most graphic lemons on Fanfiction.
Oh, and lemons?  Well, there will be those too.
Sue's Interview with sunflowersong, the Author of To Be In Her Light
Silly thing, really. SUE, as you know loves period romantic drama. If you do not know this, then you have not been here before, and to you I say, 'HIYA! Pull up a chair and sit, while I babble.'
Today's fic rec/interview is To Be In Her Light by sunflowersong
Summary: Regency period drama. Edward Anthony Masen, Viscount Cullen finds himself falling for his children's new governess Miss Isabella Swan, but their stations in life and his past might not lead to happiness.
This is one of those 'rainy day, I wanna escape my mundane real-life' fics. The imagery in it is lovely. It makes you think of those old movies with the frustrated romances, where class distinctions were prevalent. Edward is the father of two illegitimate children, with a secret in his past. His father dies, leaving him the title and lands. Bella's parents die, leaving her alone to find her way in a man's world. She finds a position as governess to, you got it, Edward's children.
And this is where the fun and problems begin.
I know you are thinking this is gonna just be a romp about the estate, but it is not. It is a story more about how this couple, that is in love, are going to overcome the obstacles that are set in their path by society.
