Sue's interview with Perry Maxwell about her fic "Unrequited"

AH, BPOV: Edward left Bella almost a year ago, upending her whole world. What happens when Bella receives a phone call that just might shatter it? "Wait, Alice…Edward is dying?" I choked out.

Twilight - Rated: M - English - Angst/Hurt/Comfort - Chapters: 14 - Words: 62,095 - Reviews: 1892 - Updated: 1-14-12 - Published: 10-8-11 - Bella & Edward

Hi!
I know it has been a while but we’ve been a little wrapped up with the holidays and real life things that reading and actually typing out a review took a back seat. I will do my best to get some done with the things I have been reading.

I know this writer from chatting on Twitter and because she is a Beta for several stories I read and love. This is her first story as a writer and it is captivating.

This is not your typical “they meet and fall in love” thing. Here we come into the story at what seems to be the end of their relationship. He leaves her, says he does not love her. As the story unwinds we find out how close they were, how much in love they were and how she questions everything they ever had. You are going to want to slap him silly because of the way he acts. He is not sympathetic till you find out more about what is going on.

What can explain his massive change? Bella knew he had a brain tumor, can that be the cause of the change? Why did his family, that professed so much love for her, abandon her?

What I like about this story is that it shows a woman who has had her confidence in everything. She knew shaken. It is one thing to say "well a confident woman would____" but to have everything you had faith in suddenly taken away from her and to have to rebuild herself and her life it is devastating to watch.

I love how you feel real sympathy for this Bella. I love how lovable she is. You just want to take her home, make her brownies, wrap her in a warm blanket and say “it is OK honey he is an ass!”

And this Bella has a friend that kinda does this (he is a guy so he does not bake her brownies). Her friend is Jamie (yes, James is a good guy). He is a brother like figure in her life and I adore him!

So my suggestion to you if you enjoy a well written story where you have no idea from chapter to chapter if you want to slap Edward or feel bad for him, where you can feel comfortable liking Bella, where James is a good guy, then you will LOVE this read. Give it a shot and let me know if you agree with me!

Now on to the interview:

Sue's interview with GrayMatters about her fic 'Til I Said it to You'

She's a serial rescuer with a history of adopting strays. He's selfish and arrogant, cut loose by his family to find himself. Will Bella fall for his act, or will Edward find more than he bargained for? AH/OOC M for language & lemons.
Twilight - Rated: M - English - Drama/Romance - Chapters: 9 - Words: 37,738 - Reviews: 624 - Updated: 11-29-11 - Published: 10-3-11 - Bella & Edward

You ever read one of those fics where Eddie boy is a spoiled brat adult and you say WTF why are his parents still supporting his stupidity? Why are they whining about how he should better himself and see the gifts he was born into and yet they do nothing to encourage his change in behavior? WELL in this story Eddie boy is spoiled brat adult but his parents decide that instead of supporting his self destructive behavior they are gonna cut him off.

He has to get a job on his own merit, support himself on a budget, find a place to live. Their hope is that by living like the rest of the world their spoiled son will gain some empathy (or is sympathy? I can never keep those straight)

Enter Bella. Single mom, student, working a crap job trying to deal with baby daddy and his new love of his life while raising a kid. And her new neighbor is yup Edward.

I know I make this sound like a fandom cliche but I'm being honest when I say this to me is a well written fresh take on this scenario.

They do not have the instant connection,
They do not have unrealistic monsters in their closet.
What they have is real life issues that are being dealt with in a real life way and I love it.

Sue's interview with mythorlegend about her fic 'After the Storm'

After a pandemic has ravaged the world, leaving less than a percent of the population alive, Bella struggles to find her place amid the chaos and violence that has been left behind. AH. BxE
Twilight - Rated: M - English - Angst/Drama - Chapters: 3 - Words: 14,524 - Reviews: 20 - Updated: 11-11-11 - Published: 7-8-11 - Bella & Edward

This is another fic that was recc'd to me by Autumn. It is pretty new and does not have many chapters. However, the ones that are up are captivating!

If you like distopian fiction this is a good fic to sink your teeth into. The premise: a devastating pandemic flu has hit the world. Only 1 % of the population survives. So no electricity, no communications and people go savage in their attempts to survive in a lawless world. Travel is difficult because raiders will steal what they can. Cars make noise so going on foot is the safest way to go. The only thing people have to hold onto is rumors of safety in different places.

I love it. The descriptions are vivid and I am curious to see where our writer takes us on this adventure.

You know what to do read the interview read the fic leave the love and let me know if this is something you enjoy too!

Sue's interview with idealskeptic about her fic 'Yellow Rose'

AH/AU. Set in the US in 1865. Alice Brandon is alone when the Civil War comes to her. As a volunteer nurse, she helps heal many soldiers. One in particular, Major Jasper Hale, stands out. What does life have in mind for Alice & Jasper in the 1860s?
Twilight - Rated: M - English - Drama/Romance - Chapters: 1 - Words: 4,037 - Reviews: 13 - Published: 11-9-11 - Alice & Jasper

it is RARE that I talk about Twific that is not an Edward/Bella pairing. Mostly because most of the fics I read are Edward/Bella and those are the ones that are recc'd to me.

This fic was rec'd to me by Autumn because of my love of historical stories. I love them. you know this people that tell me to read fics know this historical fic is my thing

This one is a neat one. Great time period and so far only 1 chapters but it is a  really really good chapter. Very descriptive. It sets a scene in a very frightening time of  American history, in the South during the Civil War. What I like so far is the set up we have going on here .

A farm. A battle going on. Alice hiding. She is alone, a young woman. When she comes out of her hiding spot she sees the carnage around her. She is a doctors daughter and has seen hurt people before but this is so horrible. She wants to help all of them but so many are beyond help. Then she comes upon a young man who is trapped under a horse, barely conscious.

Some other men are there helping the injured men. She calls them over and offers up her home as a temporary haven for the wounded. They all get to work preparing the home and men for surgery and that is where we are at right now.

I look forward to seeing where this will take us. I like that she is sticking pretty close to the history of the time. I like that this Alice is not going to be the giddy bouncy super shopper of most fic Alices. SO if you are in the mood for reading a different pairing this one is the one to try.

Sue's interview with Gingerandgreen about ''Plight Thee my Troth'

Plight Thee My Troth

England, 1795. Lord Edward Masen and Miss Isabella Swan promise to love one another for all time; but will the harsh realities of life allow two souls from very different backgrounds to fulfil their vows? EPOV, AH
Twilight - Rated: M - English - Drama/Romance - Chapters: 5 - Words: 27,413 - Reviews: 272 - Updated: 10-23-11 - Published: 9-4-11 - Edward & Bella

I was minding my own business just lurking on Twitter and Perrymaxwell said to her followers to read this story. The first chapter had just posted and minutes after it was announced I was reading and I am so thankful for the rec.

This fic is set in Regency times. It is told from his POV. We get to see her life from his eyes. He casts himself as her savior. Many readers will not like most of the men in this story because of how they stick with the thoughts of the time period.

You all know why I love historical fic right? Because the cannon characteristics fit best in another time period. I love reading different authors takes on these characters and seeing them put in the various situations in the past.

The more chapters I read the more I know that things in this fic are not as they appear at first and I wonder what our author has in store for us. So far it is amazing and when I get to the end of the chapter I am all sad that there is no more to read

She updates regularly every two weeks. Yes, you have to wait two weeks in between updates but for a fic this good it is well worth.

You know what to do now. Read the interview, go read the fic and leave her some reviews. Don't forget to come back and let me know what you think as well.

Sue's Interview with rpgirl27 about her fic 'Off The Beaten Path'

Bella is on a mission to change her life. Will a tiny school in a small mountain town offer her a new beginning? And why does every one want her to stay out of the woods? Set in the 1920s/30s. AH ExB MountainmanWard Rated M for violence/language/sex.
Twilight - Rated: M - English - Romance/Drama - Chapters: 16 - Words: 75,042 - Reviews: 1145 - Updated: 9-20-11 - Published: 5-23-11 - Edward & Bella

As you should all know by now I adore a good historical fic. There is something about being put in another time that, for me, is the ultimate escape. I also find it fascinating how the typical characteristics of Twilight fit so well in the past.

So when I heard that rpgirl27 was writing another fic and it was gonna be a historical one I was thrilled. This fic is set in 20s/30s. I have been reading it since the beginning and have loved every chapter.

This Bella is a tough independent thinker. However she is stuck in a time that does not want women to be this way. She is hired by the Cullen family to be the teacher at their school. She moves cross country to live with the head of the town (Carlisle and his family) Edward is a member of a secluded mountain community, made up of mostly farmers trying to continue their lifestyle and stay out of working in the mines that are owned by the Cullens. This story is part history, part romance, part clash of social classes.

Now why do I think it is worth the read? It has adventure and romance and enough history to keep you entertained. Oh and the sexin is not bad either!

You know what to do my dears. Give it a read, give the author some feedback and then come and let me know what you think. Is this the kind of story you like to see rec'd here? Read on to find out more about Off the Beaten Path (slight warning some of the pics in this post are NSFW nothing too graphic but probably not for viewing at work or around children)

SUEs interview with Symphiann about her fic 'Blue Satin and Cowboy Boots'

There were 4 unwritten laws in Forks during 1883.1-you listened to your Pa.2-You worshipped God.3-You did your chores without complaint.4-You stayed away from the Cullen brothers. I had no problems with those laws until a pair of green eyes looked my way.
Twilight - Rated: M - English - Romance/Drama - Chapters: 9 - Words: 25,626 - Reviews: 291 - Updated: 9-17-11 - Published: 7-13-11 - Bella & Edward

I found this story because it was listed in an archive of historical Twifics. I was excited to find something new out there being written and currently updated.
This is a cute story that has part mystery about the "bad boys". You never really find out what it is that they have done just that the good town people say to stay away from them.

Bella in this story is a simple farm girl whose life is chores and more chores. She is getting to be a grown woman and is expected to be courted by young men, especially Mike who is a wealthy mans son.

She is not interested in Mike. The man she is interested in is Edward. He has been nice to her and in her mind she does not see why the townspeople think he is a trouble maker. He has been nothing but polite to her.

The blue satin comes in because the general store has a bolt of this very pretty fancy fabric that is not at all what a practical farmers daughter would even own.

So why do I like it? I adore the little interludes between Edward and Bella that are completely innocent. We are talking a few moments here and there during the story usually in a crowd of people so no one can question anything that has happened between them.

I like how Bella is questioning the opinions of her community because of her limited interaction with this young man. And, well, it's just a cute escape fic that is well told

Now you know what to do. Give it a read, let the author know what you think and then come on back here and tell me if you agree with me!

Here is my interview with Symphiann:

Jeannie's review of 'Expectations and Other Moving Pieces' by Chrometurtle

Everything I had done in my life seemed to lead up to this moment. The moment when I found myself bound inextricably to a man I didn't love, trapped in a life I didn't want. And if I left him, I would be entirely alone.
Twilight - Rated: M - English - Angst/Romance - Chapters: 39 - Words: 191,117 - Reviews: 11896 - Updated: 8-3-11 - Published: 10-13-09 - Bella & Edward

Hi all, it’s me. I know, I know, it’s been a long time baby but I’m back from my self-inflicted hiatus. I’ve been going through a reading dry spell lately and have found myself reflecting back on some of the things I’ve read in recent past that has inspired me to be a power reader in the first place. One of the reasons I love working at SYTYCW is that it’s a great forum for fic readers to cross over to being book readers, which is a category I proudly place myself in.

I know I don’t talk about fic a lot (or at all, really, anymore) but I used to read a lot of fic. Good fic, bad fic, sadly before I found recs, I  mostly read bad fic. (sidenote: there needs to be a bumper sticker that says, “Friends don’t let Friends read Bad Fics” I’d totally rock that on my mom mobile) But when I stumbled on a good fic (and later was rec’d other equally good fic) it was like nothing could stop me from tearing that story up. Sadly, I have found very few good fic and even fewer outstanding fic that I would consider top notch in my book. Most of those outstanding fics are ones you’ve heard of, “Wide Awake” by Angstgoddess003, “Clipped Wings & Inked Armour” by HunterHunting and “For the Summer” by Camoozle are some that come to mind when I think of outstanding fics I’ve read in my lifetime. There are a few, and I mean less than I can count on one hand, number of fics that are almost unknown and yet outstanding. These fics deserve attention, these fics deserve fanfare and accolade.

The one I’m thinking of? “Expectations and Other Moving Pieces” by chrometurtle. Now here’s a fic that started in 2009 and is still considered a WIP, though to its credit, it is now winding down and the author, instead of abandoning it, is committed to seeing the story to a rightful conclusion. When it started EaOMP updated almost every other day with a riveting, thought-provoking chapter every single time. To use a sports analogy (and I’m a baseball fan) this fic was hitting them out of the park with every update. Then there was a long stretch in there where she didn’t write a single chapter for months. But its recent quiet return has re-amassed a decent following and at almost 12,000 reviews, it’s not doing too shabby.

What can I say about this fic? Well, it’s one of THE MOST ORIGINAL ideas I’ve read in a fanfic story. The characters are 100% ooc in my opinion, they do not adhere at all to any of the character stereotypes that we know so well from the Twilight Fandom, other than their physical attributes (and even that is questionable since Edward is described as a scrawny nerd-like character). And that’s part of what makes this story great. The characters are not likeable at first blush, you actually hate Edward from the first chapter and are convinced their relationship is abusive and damaging to Bella. What you don’t know is how they got to where they are and what circumstances changed them into the shells of the people you see now. Thus begins the amazing and oftentimes tragic retelling of events that lead up to this point in their lives. Backstory is interwoven with frontstory and as the story moves forward, you begin to see the healing that so slowly, achingly at times, moves between them. It’s tragically beautiful and heartbreakingly good.

Chrometurtle writes this fic like she is writing the great American novel. With care and reverence for her characters and the story. Her writing melts...MELTS...off the screen into your lap as you read the words that spiral these characters into the abyss they’ve seemingly fallen into over their time together. At times, you find yourself reading and feeling like you’re reading poetry, both lyrical and haunting and freaking bloody good. I have convinced a non-Twi fan to read this story, someone who barely knows who Bella and Edward are and they were on the edge of their seat from chapter to chapter. The story captures you with it’s slow unfolding of events and even though you are anxious to find out more from chapter to chapter, you secretly wish the unveiling will continue on just so you can relish and bathe in the gorgeous writing style.

It’s good. It’s damn good. And I rarely say that about a fic. I’ve stuck with this fic in good times and bad, in times when it updated frequently to the times we didn’t see one for half a year. It’s still outstanding. It’s not sexy, it’s not even romantic. It’s a telling of human lives and emotions and relationships that could very well have been on any best seller bookshelf in any bookstore. Trust me and give it a go. I will be sad when it is over but I’ll be happy to know that I can shelve it (virtually, anyway) next to other such great reads as mentioned above and among other great published books. This story rises to the top of them all.

Happy Reading,
@gojeannie

Tanja's Interview with Liz Lemon Bennet about her fic 'She Gives Me Religion'

Hot-headed seminary student, Edward Masen meets just widowed bride Bella Swan. EPOV: AU/AH Started as O/S. Now expanded.
Twilight - Rated: M - English - Romance/Hurt/Comfort - Chapters: 25 - Words: 185,559 - Reviews: 2316 - Updated: 7-26-11 - Published: 11-29-10 - Edward & Bella

There are always a lot of oneshot contest going on in the Twilight fandom and sometimes I make a habit out of reading the contest entries. There were, for example, The Monster-In-Law contest, the Best Domination Ever contest, the Beautiful Bellies contest, the Boys on Boards contest, or the Cherry Exchange contest where the first chapter of She Gives Me Religion was first posted as a oneshot. And while I can't remember if I first read this story during the Cherry Exchange Contest oneshots or if someone on Twitter talked about it I know I was hocked from the first chapter.

Anyways, I'm rambling.

She Gives Me Religion is told entirely in Edward POV which might be a change for some. It starts out with Edward, a seminary student, driving to the ER to support his mentor in the family room, or grief room, after a limousin of a wedding party crashed on the way to the reception. One person, the groom, died.

This is where Edward meets Bella, the bride, whose world literally just crashed.

What follows is the emotional story of two people trying to deal with huge changes in their lives while also building a partnership that basically started when both were in a fragile state of mind. Bella, newly widowed after barely being married and not having the best relationship with her in-laws. Edward, not longer sure if the seminary is really what he is supposed to do.

Here's an excerpt for you:
I'm on my knees before Edward Masen, The Beautiful and Kind—that should be his title. He's nude, and really hard. Huh, I never knew an erection could be so beautiful. It's a sculpture you'd find in a fine museum. I stroke one finger down the shaft. It's cold, hard—he is a statue. Am I really here? Where am I? Maybe I'm dreaming.
Intrigued? You know the deal. Read the story, leave the author some love and come back to tell us if you liked it or not.

Sue's interview with Maggie's Gutter about her fic 'How to Paint a House'

Bella Swan is a naive fifteen year old, set to spend another kiss-less summer alone. Edward is new to town, and doesn't know a soul. Watch an unlikely friendship blossom over the simple task of painting a house. But for these two, nothing is simple.
Twilight - Rated: M - English - Romance/Angst - Chapters: 8 - Words: 38,637 - Reviews: 366 - Updated: 8-16-11 - Published: 6-22-11 - Bella & Edward

15 is a weird age for a girl. We all hit this stage at different times. The one where you are not quite a kid and not quite a grown up (T: *insert cheesy Britney Spears song here*oh SHUSH T I'm being all sentimental here!) Some girls get there earlier than others. And that is pretty much what this story is about. That awkward 'I'm too old to be a kid but too you to be an adult' phase. In a way you still want to be little. Climb trees, play with toys and be silly. On the other hand you do not want people to see you as a kid.

Enter the cute older guy. I do not know about any of you readers out there but I know I had a cute older guy in my life at that age. He was so cool. He drove a car, he listened to amazing music I was never allowed to listen to at home, he thought I was funny.

Reading this story brought back all of that. Memories I have long buried. Those first stirrings of not being a little kid. I love that this story was rec'd to me (again you can thank Whatsmynnom and Twitter for this one) All I can say to those of you out there that are not fond of angsty stories is this one is wussperv safe SO FAR. I have no idea what the authors plans for this story are but I am willing to go on this ride with her. She has captured this age and this weirdness so well!

Now you all know what to do. Go read the fic and come back and tell me what you think. I REALLY wanna hear from you on this one.

Sue's Interview with Lady Gwynedd about her story 'Nightingale'

Intrepid Isabella Swan leaves England to seek her destiny in the New World as an indentured servant. Little does she know her physical but temporary servitude would soon lead to another kind of servitude altogether. Not a BDSM fic, or even close to it.

It should come as no surprise that I'm going to rec another historical fic. Regular readers of this blog will know that is my all time favorite genre to read - inside and outside of fandom. To me, a well written historical story is worth its weight in gold.

I follow this lady on Twitter (it is where I tend to meet everyone) I also know her from her other stories, Mail Order Bride, the fabulous Parma High and, of course, the only other story by her I have interviewed her for, The Exchange Student (which shocked me because I have read all her AuH stuff). She asked for prereaders and I, of course, volunteered. How could I turn down a chance to preread a historical fic from a fellow history geek?

The amazing thing about this story, aside from it's adherence to history, is that it's a fun captivating read. ALSO her ANs (I know some people hate to read them) are where you will get fun tidbits about history. Let's not forget that she is a teacher, although NOT a history teacher, no matter how much I tell her that her geekiness would make history come alive for kids, she is far too attached to her current students to trade departments.

NOW, lets actually talk about the story:
Bella is an apprentice seamstress living in England when her teacher gets thrown in the poor house for non-payment of debts. She is now jobless and homeless. She then signs up to be an indentured servant, this gives her a job, room and board for years of service to a family for three years. WHAT? Three years? In history class I was told that it was 7 years? OHHH yes it was...except for skilled laborers (neat tidbit, I thought).

That is how the story begins. Later, she gets to travel across the sea to her new mistress to help launch her daughters into high fashion society. This story does not skimp on some of the nastier sides of life. For example, at this time sea travel was not fun, in fact, it was a dirty messy, nasty business. In this story you get to find out how people did things without the benefit of running water and electricity and modern medicines.

Yes of course she eventually meets Edward but I have to say that FOR ME that is not the main thrust of this story (pardon the dirty pun). The main idea of this story speaks to daily life and how two people from two different social ranks would deal with one another. Think about it, basically he is her master (no, not in a BDSM way). She is his servant. Those kinds of things, well, they were done but they were not socially acceptable at the time.

You know what to do. Read the interview. Read the fic. Leave the love and let me know what you think of it (don't forget that last part!).
OH The manips in here were made by Melolabel and the pictures unless otherwise noted were found for me by Spanglemaker9 Thanks ladies for your help!

Sue's interview with Kas90 about her fic 'Strawberry Wine'

When Bella goes back to NC to help her sick uncle, she runs into the boy who she fell in love with when she was 17. But what exactly happened that summer? Will they ever get their HEA? What stays with us more-our 1st love or 1st heartbreak?
Twilight - Rated: M - English - Romance/Drama - Chapters: 22 - Words: 106,861 - Reviews: 893 - Updated: 7-28-11 - Published: 12-30-10 - Bella & Edward

I was on Twitter as usual and have been noticing this fic being rec'd over and over again. People squeeing, people getting all excited when it updated. So I figured I would give it a shot.

In one evening I had read all of the 22(at the time) chapters that were posted. I did not stop to review, I just read. I could not click fast enough to get to the next one... It has been a long, LONG time since a fic has done that for me.
Strawberry Wine, the song that this fic is VERY loosely based on, reminds me of a certain summer many, many years ago and a boy I knew and  a girl that was very into him. This fic captures that feeling well but takes it a step further.

What happens when you go away from the summer love? Well you grow up. You remember that summer with fondness. When something simple reminds you of it you smile. You never really forget that first love. In some ways this can be good. You will remember the sweet memories. What if that first love taints all others that you meet? What if no one can live up to that memory of what you think was perfection?

In the logical part of your mind you KNOW he was not perfect. He was a kid, you were a kid and the two of you were not perfect. Reality rarely matches the memory you have of something. That is where this fic takes us.

Bella, at age 17, goes to spend a summer with her uncle on his horse farm.
Edward works on that farm. We know they start dating of course what I like about this part of the story is while it is a sweet summer romance it is not perfect. Granted, he is a bit more cheesy than most real boys at that age would be. I can forgive it in this story because he uses his corny lines to make others laugh.

This story alternates between those summers of Bella being 17 and the present time when Bella is 40. She goes back to Charlies, this time to take care of him because he is a sick older man. I like uncle Charlie in this story a LOT. He is conniving. We find through these chapters that, after Bella left the first time, she did not keep up with what was going on in this small town.
She has no idea that Edward did not go off and do all the things he said he dreamed of doing. She has no idea that many of her friends have changed. Some for the better, some for the worse.

I cannot say much more except that, so far, the story is limited on angsty stuff that T loves. It is on the fluffy side but not the super sweet, hurts my teeth, kinda fluff. It has some very real aspects to it (virginity loss that is fumbling awkward and not full of orgasms -THANK YOU KAS!!)

So if you trust me and my recs give this one a go. Leave the author some loving. Tell her SUE sent you and make sure to let me know what you think of it because I want to know if you like it!

Chef. I love Chef. If you don't know what Chef I am talking about then you have not lived till you have seen Gordon take someone down verbally, rip them to shreds and, piece by glorious piece, put them back together again. But I digress.

SO when I read the first chapter of this fic I did it because I was told that there was gonna be a Chef like my favorite Chef in it.

OHHH the comedy. Ohhh the romance. OHHH the burn. OHHH the anger and the snark and the BANTER!!!

This fic even has a crazy cat lady (sorry Bella) but most of all it has CHEF so if you love Chef like I love him give this one a read leave mags some lovin and you know the rest! OH and just a note the pictures in this post may or may not have anything to do with the story.

OK as you may have guessed I am a bit of a fan of Savages writing. I like how she takes a plot and then twists it till we do not know which end is up. She does this through her manipulation of the characters and the things they have to learn through her story.

Oddly enough she writes some of the worst Edwards ever. I mean these are not the Edward you want to take home to mama. Savages Edwards are the kind you only like if you are a masochistic female that loves to fix the imperfect guy.

and BOY are her Edwards messed up. I love that.

Yes I am the masochistic female. I love to see a messed up guy go through his own personal hell and grow to be a better person. THAT is what she writes.

Now I recal a few weeks ago when Savage first started this messed up train of thought. Some people were saying "slavery is never sexy" Well if you read PAST that bit you will see she does NOT portray it as sexy. Because it is not.

WHY I like this story?
You have messed up Edward. He is not the brightest bulb on the tree. He needs some serious social lessons. He gets a hair up his ass about wanting a sex slave. WHY? Well he does not think it out really far but to him, in his simplistic way of viewing things, this is the way to go. After all, his own personal sex slave would give him what he wants - no questions asked.

So he has an acquaintance that deals with this. The guy asks Edward all kinds of questions. Taking his "order" so to speak. Through the many twists and turns of the story we come to see that this girl, that has been forced into slavery, is there because of this order.

OH MY the stuff that happens in each chapter has me more excited for the next just to see where Savage is gonna take poor doofissward next.

This guy thinks he has it all under control. He THINKS he is doing well.
Poor poor Edward. He did the one big mistake most males make: he thought.

Sue's Interview with solostintwilight about 'In Your World'

Bella is running from her life when it takes an unexpected detour, To Amish Country in rural Iowa where she finds sanctuary with a caring family. And meets a man who draws her into his world. Welcome to the world of Amishward.
Twilight - Rated: M - English - Romance/Drama - Chapters: 4 - Words: 30,812 - Reviews: 179 - Updated: 4-8-11 - Published: 3-9-11 - Bella & Edward

Like many stories everywhere this one was inspired by a picture. A picture of a good looking guy in a dorky hat. I know my first response to the VF photoshoot of Rob with the alligator on his shoulder was "why is he wearing an amish hat?"

Obviously I was not the only one to make this kind of a comment and so from Twitter conversations that took place around the world AMISHWARD was born. People were calling for someone to write an Amishward well one author took on that challange.

I found this story because a friend of mine follows this particular author and I happened to catch her tweeting about chapter 1 of Amishward. Me being ME I fav'd the tweet, clicked on the link and after ONE chapter I was hooked.

Here is the part where I tell you why I'm hooked:
First off the Amish have always fascinated me as a society. Secondly I like the idea of someone being accepted by this society because of something bad that happened. The whole sanctuary thing appeals to me. A group of good people protecting an innocent person and showing them their way of living and accepting life based on their faith gives me hope.

Also this fic appeals to the LARGE side of me that adores period romance because of the way the Amish choose to live. It is like stepping back in time where roles were defined and people worked very hard for the simple things in life that we in the modern world tend to take for granted.

This is a simple story that speaks to the romantic in me. It says these two have obsticles to overcome and how will they do it and what will happen when these worlds collide? How will he deal with an attraction to a woman that is outside what he should want? What world will she choose? Will she have a choice? Or will outside forces make that choice for her? How will the two worlds deal with them possibly getting together?

This fic is so new that it is still not a given that these two will end up together. Yes it is an E/B story, however I NEVER assume that just because I am reading that genre that it is a given many authors have pleasantly surprised me by NOT giving me an HEA to me that keeps things interesting.

So pull up a chair. This is a short read because so far there are not many chapters in it. Give it a shot and don't forget to let me know what you think!

Sue's interview with Stupidsuckedinreader about her fic

After college, Edward Cullenman and Bella Swanstein must work on their relationship. Sometimes getting to forever can be a bit meshugana. M for lemons and K for Certified Kosher.

Ahhhhh Kosherward.....
Many of you who know me, know that the series of 4 o/s of The Eight Nights of Delights is my go to make-me-giggle fic, especially chapter 2 from HIS POV.

I met this author because I fell in love with her username. Really who could not love the name Stupidsuckedinreader?

Ever since reading Eight Nights of Delights I have been gently badgering her to give me more Kosherward. I love him deeply because he has to have the most honest, open, beautiful, naughty, real male POV I have ever read.

This fic is full of of some stereotypes. She plays them up, especially the Jewish mother who oddly enough reminds me a great deal of my Catholic Grandma with her advice and nosiness. It also has the two great lovers grown up and grown apart -  not due to anything huge an agnsty but because of silly misunderstandings.

He wanted to set them up for life. Get married, have babies - that was his life plan. She wanted to be independent, still dating him but not being expected to get married and being a Jewish baby factory with his name as her only identity.
They split up.

This is the story of how they get back together and live with the various expectations put upon them by friends and family.

What I like most about this story is that the characters really come to life for me. The banter, the way they deal with things, are very real and not over the top and dramatized.

Everyone can identify with them and the pressures they get from all sides
and lets face it, Zayin is a funny side character with a mind all his own.

Sue's interview with Sheviking about her fic 'My Viking'

Bella is captured by Vikings and brought with them to their home country where her new fate awaits. Can she ever find happiness being a slave? Will it make a difference that she is given to Edward to be his bed thrall? Rated M for old time lemons.
Twilight - Rated: M - English - Romance/Adventure - Chapters: 7 - Words: 48,214 - Reviews: 2588 - Updated: 1-6-11 - Published: 12-5-10 - Bella & Edward

As many of you know I get my recs from Twitter. Mostly I stalk many people and while I'm in lurk mode I read tweets. That is how I came across this little jewel. I was watching some people chat in my feed about this VERY hot, very lovely period fic. Of course I tweetjacked (for those not on twitter this means you type in TJ kind of a twitter excuse me) and I asked them what fic they were talking about.

I am known for loving period fics and I was told to go read it right away. So I did and...

OH my!

I love period fics because I am a fan of history. Sadly there are some cultures I really do not know much about and some I only have a cursory glance at from my pathetic high school history classes (insert joke about American education here)

This fic is about Vikings (big shock from the title right?). Edvard (Edward spelled in a more norse way) is leader of a clan of Vikings. His brother returns with some captives including a very lovely English woman who has been captured with the intent of her becoming Edvards bedthrall.

Now in his culture this is a place of honor. In her culture this is a mortal sin.
It is this culture clash (along with the hot as hades sexin) that gives us our story. Of course I am not going to take this as actual history and to those out there, reading fic thinking this is a good way to pass a history test, I do hope you also read your text book. Please remember these stories just give us a general overview of things.

I love watching Bella awaken to realize that this pagan group of heathens that she has been forced to be with is really not all that bad! They are accepting of her, loving their families, caring for their community, hard working, etc.

I also love the duality of Edvard which is why she calls him MY viking. She wants him to always be the sweet gentle man he was when they spent time together in... well you are just going to have to read it because that part made me *SIGH*

Now lets join who has to be one of the hardest working fandom members:
  • she is a student
  • she is a mom of a 2yr old
  • she writes fic
  • AND she is pregnant!
As a mom of 5 my hat's off to you hon. At least I have a staff to make my stuff work around here. *SAAALUTE*
