Ever since I read Finding Himself by minnissinoo I have been looking around for another Cedric/Hermione story that would captivate me just as much. The hard thing is, once you have read what I consider to be the best fic ever, you are gonna have a hard time finding something that can compare (yes, I know T and I disagree. She keeps trying to get me to read SLASH but it scares me. And T still has no desire to read CD/HG fic) 

Like the way I find most fic I was sitting on Twitter one night (I get all my news from Twitter) when one of my friends happened to mention that she is a beta for a new fic about Cedric and Hermione.

OHH is it any good? 

Yes, it's good. I tend to take this with a grain of salt because, after all, one persons good is another persons flounce but I'm up for anything.

THEN I heard who the author was. Anyone remember The Plan? You know, that brilliant idea QF had, to post a story in real time? Remember the fun of the updates? The little vingnettes we got? Yeah, I do too. It was a blast for the reader and I bet a nightmare for the author and her Beta.

At any rate, I was all excited because I wanted to see if she had come up with an idea I could sink my teeth into. So happy I gave this one a chance!

The idea behind it is, that the world Hermione is living in is basically the one she was left in at the end of Book 7. The war is over, they have seen devastation, heartbreak and death. Minerva asks Hermione to come join her. She has something for her from Dumbledore. It's a book and it seems empty? Weird. Follow Hermione as she finds out the secrets behind this book.

How cool is that? We get to discover things as Hermione does. We find out the truth. SO how does Cedric come into this?

Well, you will get to meet a sweet teenage boy. He is cute, he is flirty and written as an adorable match for our heroine. SO if you like reading Cedric/Hermione and you were left wanting more of this pairing, give this one a shot. I think, like the few of us that are reading it, you will NOT be disappointed.

SOME Harry Potter O/S for you

ALRIGHTY, when we did the poll a few months ago about what you people want to see on SYTYCW some voted on more coverage of other fandoms. Now, as you may know, I do not have time to read in all fandoms and read real books and deal with real life at the same time. I mean if I read in all the fandoms when would I find time to play on Twitter?


So mostly I read in HP and Twilight. I would love to find something fabulous in say, Hunger Games fandom (any recs let me know!) or in Pride and Prejudice fandom (same thing) or even GASP the Time Travelers Wife. Well you get the idea...


So lets talk some fic


I know that several of you have listened to me and have read Finding Himself. Good job, I hope you enjoyed it. As you can see from our HP Fic stuff page as well as from our interview/reviews we have some fabulous HP fics and there are TONS of places to read them.


The only thing I ask of you is to remember that the HP fandom has been around for a LONG timeS. o look for completed fics OR O/S OR for fics being updated recently it will save you a LOT of frustration.


Sadly I do not have many Cedric/Hermione fics to rec, they are just not out there.

Now, now don't get all freaky on me. The neat thing about Draco in many fics I have found is what is called reformed Draco basically the author takes the character and something has happened to him in that fics history to make him change so he is not ALL bad.


If you saw the last movie or read the books you know that Draco is a multi level deep character. He is not evil, he is a kid that was lead astray and was raised with prejudices.

This is a Christmas themed O/S. I love it for the extra character and the neato twist IMO it is a cute fic. Read it, if you are disappointed tell me why LOL


OH and this one is a ficlet Bus Stop and OH MY is it sweet.
Hermione visiting her aunt, takes the bus to get out of Muggle London and who does she run into at the bus stop? A flirty, reformed, Draco who is on his way to his job. He is a taste tester at an ice cream shop. Silly? Yes but super cute. The interactions take place mostly at the bus stop. I really enjoyed the little convos between them.

OK, on with todays fic rec.

When I first started reading HP, I read Finding Himself by the fabulous minnisimoo. (In fact, Sue has talked a LOT about this fic - check the page on top saying HP Stuff) It is a Cedric Hermione story and after I read that I CRAVED more of this pairing. So I went on the hunt. SADLY this is not a very popular pairing. 

Now if you read Finding Himself you will know that this is a great couple. In todays fic rec we get to see them be older and a little more mature. We also get to see what is to be the last of the singles amid a group of married off or paired off friends and this poor pair is stuck at a wedding. Not only that, they are IN the wedding party.

We have Harry getting married to Pansy.
We have a VERY pregnant Ginny, married to Neville, that is wearing a horrific color for a red head.
We have a bride in the middle of a melt down.
A groom that tries to wear a rut in the floor by pacing too much.
A horrible aunt, that recommended an even worse caterer so the food is inedible and needs to be replaced.
We get Luna looking to the sky for advice
A justice of the peace that is intoxicated and stealing apples and so inebriated he cannot perform the ceremony
AND a Rita Skeeter attack!

And through it all Cedric and Hermione flirting with each other, trying slowly to solve each problem without the bride or groom finding out.

What things will Hermione learn throughout her stressful day? Will she finally find the someone that will love her for who she is - a bossy, logical 30yr old, independent know-it-all? Will Cedric be able to finally impress the seemingly aloof Hermione and convince her of his sincerity?

Well, what do you think?
I love the way inell tells a story. Her dialog is adorable and the situations are so silly and sadly those of us, that have been in weddings, can attest to the fact that when one gets married Murphy's Law rules the day.

Whatever can go wrong WILL go wrong.

Now move away with me from Bella and Edward, and let's talk about fic that is based in JK Rowling's universe.

Alright, you should know by now that I like fics that are sweet, without tons of angst and tons of manufactured strife. This story has just that. This is a story that I love. You wanna know why?

Well, Draco is a young dad of an adorable kid. He is not the spoiled brat you know from the Harry Potter world of JK Rowling.

He grew up.

He matured.

And he is deeply in love with...

Zane.

Don't get all freaky and shocked, thinking I have recced you slash (SUE does not do slash. You want that, talk to T!).

Zane is his son and NOTHING is as sexy as a man that loves and cares for his child.

Take the attributes of Draco, the determination, the tenacity, add to it a man who learned from a mistake of a one night stand with a spoiled woman (Pansy), and you have this Daddy Draco.

SO SUE, where does the hotness come in?

Enter Hermione, who, taking a page from her Muggle roots, has started a school for magical children. Where as most children from magical families are home-schooled, Hermione starts a preschool where the children can prep for Hogwarts.

Guess what newly-single Dad needs to do with his little boy? YUP. Enroll him in school. AND here is where the sparks start to fly.

Zane, of course, falls in love with his new teacher. Draco tries his best to not badmouth her, while being oddly attracted to her physically (of course).

In this story, the two make a choice to be together in order to save Draco's custody of his son from his ex-wife.

During the course of this, they actually fall in love, but it takes time.

Other things you will love about this fic:

• The precocious and very cute mini-Draco, Zane. He is adorable but not super cutesy.
• A special appearance by Fred and George Weasley had me laughing, literally OUT LOUD. I got some funny looks from the family for those times!

SO give this fic a shot. You never know, this might be the one that converts you to a new fandom!

And if you have already read some HP fic, it will reunite you with an old friend!

As many of you know I vanished from Twific for umm well a couple weeks and found myself lost in the world of HP fanfic.

Ever since I was told by Hannah to read the fantabulous 'Finding Himself' by Minissimoo (link on the HP Stuff page) I try to search out more HP fics to share with everyone.

Sadly many of the Cedric/Hermione fics are either not finished or, well, not very good so I was told by The_Glory_Days (author of Alphabet Weekends, among other fics) to check out the Draco/Hermione ships.

Draco Hermione is one of the biggest ships out there (I think you're lying *cough*HPDM*cough* but carry on) and SUE has been reading a whole bunch of them.

Some good.
Some OK
Some meh.
Some Smutty.

As you can see I got lost and then... I fell in love... 
Yes I know, SUE is so fickle. She falls in and out of love so often. But lets just say that, when SUE gets bored reading about Edward pinching the bridge of his nose and Bella tripping over air, SUE goes into the magical mystical world of HP fic and finds her joy in fic again.

Of course there are cliches in HP but as a new reader I am not annoyed with them.

A Pound of Flesh

Some will roll their eyes at the description of this story and while I have to admit it made me giggle in places it was still a JOY to read.

This story is a mystery.

Hermione goes out with Ginny for a girls night. They head to a strip club with an all male review to celebrate Ginnys upcoming wedding. The star of the all male review is a guy that can really work a cape (SUE LOVES A MAN THAT CAN WORK A CAPE).

Both women recognize the man on stage. It is NONE OTHER than Draco Malfoy!

WAIT he's supposed to be dead! He disappeared years ago.

I feel so damn dirty posting this ...

SO why is the prince of Slytherin in an muggle strip joint?

That is where the mystery comes in!
And Hermione is gonna find out
HERE is where the smut comes in

Remember when you read TWI smut for the first time? Yeah... it is kinda refreshing in that way.

SO if you are in the mood for a good, different, fic in a fandom you have either overlooked or have not looked at in a while

Hannah's Interview with Minisinoo about 'Finding Himself'

Right. So I told you before that one of my very favourite fanfics was Finding Himself by Minisinoo. And it was also Sue’s very first foray into HP fanfic. After my first blog post, a couple of weeks ago, Sue told me to go interview Minisinoo for SYTYCW.

I was like … ok, sure. Inside I was more like OMG! Partly because I am a wuss when it comes to contacting people, but mainly because to me Minisinoo is one of the best fanfic writers out there, for any fandom. It felt a little intimidating, I have to say!

But I kinda knew we were gonna get some great answers. Minisinoo is wordy! Which I personally love.

So lets give a more proper review for Finding Himself.

I know, I know. You are saying, SUE! WTF? You already read so much fic and YOU READ TWI FIC!

Well, I cheated on TwiFic and read 2 HP fics and they are great. But because I am new to ficdom, I have no idea where to go from here. So I have been in contact with some folks who know more than I do ...

First up *sniffle* our little Hannah wrote her first blog post I am so proud !! It is insightful and interesting and intriguing and oh hell just read it!!
