Let's Talk About Books

 

Today we are gonna talk about something OTHER than Twi fic.


WHY? Well because it has been my crazy dream to make the blog SYTYCW about all fandoms. Oddly enough I do not have time to read tons of fics in ALL fandoms.


We have rec'd some HP fic here and there (I still think we need more) and NOW there is something that has been sweeping the globe being touted as the NEXT Twilight (meaning the sensation that surrounded it).


I am talking about The Hunger Games Trilogy by Susan Collins

Summary: Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. But Katniss has been close to death before - and survival, for her, is second nature. "The Hunger Games" is a searing novel set in a future with unsettling parallels to our present. I wish they would stop calling these the next "Twilight" because the quality of writing and the way the story sucks you in reminds me more of Harry Potter because the characters speak to more than just one section of readers.
I had my son (11 yr old Zach the super reader) read The Hunger Games books. He loved them, even the sad depressing parts. My oldest son, 17 yr-old Alex also thought they were fabulous stories (he is big into Stephen King books BTW)


NOW why is SUE talking about Hunger Games?? Aside from the books being fabulous there is also a movie in the works based on the first book for more info on it go to the fan sites below. IMBD lists it as in preproduction, a director has not been chosen yet estimates for release are late 2012 - 2013 plenty of rumors and very little confirmed.
