Sue's interview with Stella luna sky author of Bad Fauxmance

My most sincere apologies for keeping you all on tender hooks for *GASP* 3 days of no posts!

Lets just say Real Life is kicking my ass again, so the editing and actual writing of posts is not a top priority. I am doing my best to get some done, so we can have a whole bunch of them set and schedules to go up and I am getting there! (Go Sue! Go Sue! Yeah!)

Please forgive me for any faux pas in this post, now let's sit back and enjoy this funny interview with a lovely author, about her fic, Bad Fauxmance.

Summary: Typical formula: boy meets girl. Boy befriends girl. Boy falls in love with girl. Girl has no idea. Boy is afraid to tell her, because Boy - me, Edward Cullen - has been pretending to be gay to keep Girl's man-hating self in his life. Rated M. AH.

Oh my, what mess has Eddie gotten himself into this time?

The premise of this fic is why I just had to read it, and lucky for me, the author is doing a great job with it as well!

Edward is a bit of a player. He meets Bella, who is an all-round manhater, so in a stroke of 'brilliance', he decides to pretend to be gay to get close to her.

This fic cracks me up. You have a straight man, who loves the boobs, trying to act like they are yuckie!

His internal thoughts are worth the read alone!

How will Edward go from womanizer to sensitive guy? You see, at first, all he is looking for is a good time.

What will happen when Bella finds out? Because you KNOW she will! WHY does Bella hate men? Will Edward really change? And more importantly... a gay Emmett? Yes, he is gay and yes, this fic pulls it off, without it being cheesy or stereotypical.

WHY I like the gay men in this fic, is because they are more... real. They are not the cliched stereotype (THANK YOU). Not all gay men are flamers, and NOT all flamers are gay!

NOW, enough of my early morning nonsensical rambles, let's get to the interview.

Read it you'll love it and leave her some loving!

1. What was it that gave you the ‘spark’ for your story? Was it a picture? A moment or event? Can you remember the initial inspiration?

Lindsey: Well one of my really good friends is a gay male and he always dragged me to gay clubs and bars, and I started wondering how many of those guys were straight men waiting in the trenches so to speak. If any of them hung out in gay bars to pick up girls, or what have you. The idea kind of blossomed from that--our fanfiction Edward, who is seen as the archetypal perfect man, being put in a position where he is denied what he wants over and over again... for his own mistake.

Sue: I have to say I read it for the giggles of straight playboy Edward having to fake being gay
because he is so pretty
and it made me giggle
till the last chapter but I wont spoil

L: It's so much fun to write... I constanly think of all the fucked up situations I can put him in. Just because this last chapter seems to be the end, doesn't mean it'll be the end of Edward being tortured.

S: not if he stays friends with Emmett I mean all his friends will tease him

2. Do you have a particular process when it comes to your writing, perhaps a certain mood, environment or music? Do you have any ‘triggers’ to get you in the writing mood?

L:
No... I'm a very irresponsible writer. I admire the crap out of the authors who can stay on a posting schedule, because I write whenever I a) have the time and b) have the feel for it. I'll just get this urge and know it's time to write the next chapter. Sometimes I play music, but sometimes I want silence. My brain is weird in that way.

S: most of the authors who have a posting schedule actually have a BIG secret wanna know what it is?

they write most of the story before even posting the first chapter LOL

L: Oh do they now! Well that's just cheating...

S: I KNOW but it works!

I am one of those weird readers I do not mind waiting for updates

I have fics that have not updated in about a year

I read lots of stuff

L: I don't either! I think with fanfic, the anticipitation is a lot of what gets us going Nothing like a good cliffie

3. Give us an elevator pitch. Say you’re in an elevator with a prospective reader for 2 minutes – what would you tell them about the story?

L: Oh God, something that won't make them run screaming? Edward pretends he's gay to keep Bella, who is a hater of straight men, in his life. A lot of awful things happen to him, and most of those awful things are caused by Bella's BFF and "gay", Emmett. Emmett knows Edward's secret and loves to torture him. It's got some angst... but mostly it's just me and my weird sense of humor.

4. Do you picture particular actors for your characters, or are they someone else entirely? If so, who? (we use this Q to get pictures into the post LOL)

L: My Edward is always Rob... Emmett is definitely Kellan. Bella isn't really a distinct person- maybe Emmy Rossum, without the big curls.

S: oh but which Rob? LOL and Which Kellan cause really he has many looks as well!

L: This is my banner... it is about perfect (KStew is the Bella in the banner... but that's okay)

S: LOL I love it ! we can work with that!

L: okay!

S: We like to throw in lots of pictures it adds interest to the interview and we like to look at pretty guys

L: Just imagine Kellan with a constant smirk on his face and Rob with perpetual blue balls... and that's what I see whenever I write them.

(I know she said with a constant smirk but really do you wanna see him with a smile or topless? my sentiments exactly!)

S: LOL the poor man

L: Yep, hahaha! It's so fun to torture poor Edward... poor thing brought it upon himself but he's so earnest it's hard not to feel for him...

S: I still laugh at him cause I can

L: hahaha Well good!

5. Is the story all planned out or do you do it as a fly by the seat of your pants thing?

L: I have certain things planned out. I know how it ends, but writing chapters is when I figure out where I'm going in the story. Nothing is outlined

6. Have you got any other projects going on? Any planned for the future?

L: I'm putting myself up for auction in the Fandom Gives Back where people can have me as their personal writing slave. I'll write pretty much anything - Bella POVs of Bad Fauxmance, or original one shots... anything.

S: very nice!

I volunteered to help a fan of the blog interview any author on the list of authors who signed up to help us people can bid and then choose from the list 3 highest bidders get to choose

L: That's really awesome!

7. What was it that brought you to Twilight fanfic? What is it that has kept you here (besides your own writing)?

L: Funnily enough, my RL bestie's mom sent me a link to a wedding night one shot - isn't that how we all got here? Totally unsatisfied by Isle Esme? So I read that and was hooked. I had been reading Twilight fanfiction for about six months without any ideas or anything. I knew I wanted to write a fanfiction, but I had to wait for inspiration. When it did... my first story, Bare, came out of it. I've been involved in various fandoms since I was 14, but this one is seriously dynamic. All the good that has come out of it - charity work and making friends... it's an honor and a pleasure to be involved.

S: awwwwww

L: I know... sorry if I gave you diabetes from that ridiculously sweet/corny answer

8. Do you have a background in writing? Has the fanfic experience expanded your creativity?

L: A background? Hmmm. I've been writing since I was seven, just stupid little journals like "today [boy crush here] looked at me. We're in love" in ridiculously bad handwriting. I started writing stories when I was 10... I completed at least 7- I still have them all, and it's funny to read over them. I started writing boy band fanfic when I was 14 - I refuse to say which! - and I haven't stopped since. I'm 22 now... so I suppose that's a bit of a background, but nothing really professional. and it's definitely expanded my creativity - it's a wonderful outlet for feedback.

S: ok now I feel old your 22! damn

L: Yeah I get that A LOT! hehe

9. How about your creative self-confidence? By nature writers tend to be a notoriously insecure lot so how are you finding the online writing experience?

L: I wasn't really that insecure about my first fic, Bare. I was an unknown just writing for my pleasure, basically. It got popular and that's when the insecurity started a bit... but I just constantly reminded myself to write for myself first and for the people reading second. I never would have finished it without them, though! For Bad Fauxmance... you have no idea the anxiety I go through when I go to post each chapter. I swear I think that this chapter's crudeness is going to make everyone run screaming for the hills. It's a really different type of fic then I'm used to writing, and I'm never sure if the humor is going to be received as funny or offensive.

Well... I say Bare got popular. Not popular, it just gained readers as opposed to me just writing into cyber space.

S: Bare is popular

people know of it and rec it

at least I have seen them do it on Twitter

and trust me I have seen WAY more offensive humor in fic

L: I have too- but I can understand that people may be sensitive and think I'm trashing gay culture

S: so long as they know you are not because you have friends in the community that I think makes the difference

10. Do you tell your friends and family that you’re an online author with a devoted following, or is this something that you tend to keep for yourself?

L: My boyfriend knows and the RL bestie whose mom introduced me to FF knows- but she and I never talk about it. I talk about it with my boyfriend from time to time... he is very bemused by it but is happy for me. He just gets annoyed that my Blackberry is buzzing all the time with FF.net emails. My family doesn't know - wouldn't want my mom to stumble across a lemon I've written!

S: LOL

I hear that a LOT

12. Is there a particular character in your story that you identify with the most?

L: Not so much identify, but Edward's sense of humor/the way he says things is pretty much me in a nutshell.

S: so you are saying you think like a straight man pretending to be gay?

L: hahahahahaha. Yes, all the time. No no... just his internal monologue sounds a lot like mine. And his insults are things I call people on a daily basis.

13. Which RL author(s) inspires you?

L: I'm completely and totally obsessed with Sarah Dessen. I have all of her books. I want her brain.

S: I have no idea who that is

L: She's a YA author

S: ahhhh

L: I also like Sherrilyn Kenyon quite a bit... her Dark Hunter series is the only erotica I'll buy

S: I pretty much submerged myself into fic last year and have yet to read a real book

L: haha that sounds like me! Books, what are books?

S: and I used to devour at least 2 books a week

L: Me too!

S: Fanfic has saved us thousands of dollars in Amazon books

L: SO TRUE!

S: and storage space!

L: I like this way of thinking!!

S: Fanfiction is a very frugal way to live LOL

L: hahahaha yes!

14. Did any FF authors inspire you? What was it that had you reading FF and thinking “I could do this”?

L: Tropic of Virgo by in.a.blue.bathrobe really opened my eyes that I COULD write the way I wanted to. Fanfiction really follows a formula stylistically, and I think that ToV really knocked down the doors to that... not necessarily mundane by kind of dry way of story telling. ToV added poetry to fanfiction, and I wanted my turn to try. That's what sparked Bare, I guess. I had the idea in my head, but I didn't know if the way I described things would be taken seriously... until ToV. She completeley and unabashedly broke the style barriers. I could go on and on about ToV... I fangirled it so hard.

S: OMG Tanja would LOVE YOU that is one of her favs

Let’s have some fun.

What would your porn star name be? That’s the name you get when you combine the name of your first pet with the first street you lived on – personally I’m *cough* Fluffy Brockman.

S: oppps that is Sandy's porn star name mine is

Jaques lincoln

not very sexy

L: Oh my GOD this is so embarrassing. Choo Choo Tokalon.

S: BWHAHAHA

MINE IS A GUYS NAME

that is so not fair

L: My first dog panted like crazy and my even crazier parents named her Choo Choo because she sounded like a train. I guess panting goes well with a porn star name, though!

16. Give us a Random Fact about yourself.

L: I'm obsessed with the Tudor Era. I could tell you anything you wanted to know about the Six Wives of Henry VIII.

S: LOL do you read Tudorward then?

L: IS THERE A TUDORWARD???

S: OH MY YES!

I foced Hannah to write it

L: WHAT, OMG!

S: hang on I will link you

L: I need the link!!

S: To Enchant a King by Handiangel

make CERTAIN you go look at her profile

some REALLY good manips

on there Rob as Tudorward

SWOON

L: Omg... fucking SWOON. I am going to be very busy tonight...

S: make sure to leave love and tell her SUE sent you

L: I will most certainly do that!!

S: and yes you have to capitolize it all

L: haha I will!!

S: she will know I am the only SUE in fandom that spells her name like that

17. If you could have 15 minutes with any Edward, FF or SM's, which one would you choose and what would you do?
(If you do not LIKE any of the Edwards feel to substitute an actor here. Rob, Kellan, PFach or Jackson or any actor really)

L: I would spend those 15 minutes trying to seduce Pedoward (littlesecret84's Age of Consent's Edward) and try to get him to leave Bella for me. If I couldn't do that, I'd offer up a threesome.

S: BWHAHAHA you would have to fight Littlesecret84 for Bella, she would give up Pedoward before she gave up Bella

L: HAHAHAH SO TRUE

18. What is your FanFic Pet peeve?

L: It's not really a pet peeve, but I can't read a story if Edward dies. I'm too emotionally attached to him as a character. It can be the best, most beautifully developed plot ever, but I won't read it if he dies in it.

S: Ok I have read a few of thsoe

I do not blame you

They make me sad

L: Also I'm a big canon girl. It has to be E/B in the end... I only have one exception, Get Me To You by chicklette. The only Jasper/Bella I've ever read and enjoyed.

S: my pet peeve is little things

like smells

constant priabism (Hannah: Sue means priapism... lol)

that is a medical condition NOT a turn on

L: I hate the p popping thing- "Nope," he said and popped the p. Like, WHY. Also... super annoying Alice's... but those two things I think are shared by most people in the fandom.

hahahahah priabism hahhah

S: virgin to hoor

L: YES.

S: immediately after having sex

L: Or if Bella comes her first time

S: sorry virgins do not fuck like porn stars

L: Leave the porn star fucking to porn stars. I want my romantic leads to be making love

S: Oh and Guys that sound like chicks

my hubs reads FF with me

and that has to be his biggest one too

he says NO GUY looks at a girl and says she has chocolate eyes

L: Oh Bella, my love... those new blahniks look stunning next to your Prada wrap dress

S: not gonna happen

he says "she has great tits" damn I forgot to look at her face I sure hope she did not notice

L: hahahahhhahaha

S: or my favorite "she has EYES?"

L: LOL

S: That is how guys think

sex, food, sleep

they are simple creatures

I oughta know been with hubs for 18yrs and we got 5 boys

L: Yep... pretty much! If they were made like women... the homicide rate would be astronomical

oh GOD BLESS YOU

S: he already did babe LOL

L: hahahaha I like that!! :)

19. What is your Fandom Pet peeve?

L: Drama. We're all women so there's bound to be emotional stuff, and I've been guilty of saying snarky things... but I think we all should remember that we came together because we all wanted more out of Twilight... and we've made friends and we've done great things as a fandom.

S: very true

20. What did you want to be when you grow up?

L: Well I'm still in the process of getting there... I'm in school to be a counselor, and I eventually want to use that to help people with addictions.

S: nice !

I wanted to be lounge singer

L: Oh, you win!

S: what can i say I like sequins

LOL

yours is much more productive

L: Yes, but yours is so much more fun... maybe I can counsel people in song

get the best of both worlds

S: it changes as I get older

Ok last Q

you ready?

L: Ready!

21. do you have anything else to add?

L: Oh good one. Put me on the spot. Not really... just a big thank you to everyone who cares enough to read what I write - I'm still baffled by it all. Thanks to my beta Ali who puts up with my typos and me as a person... not an easy task. And thanks to you for interviewing me! This has been truly awesome.

Oh... that is such a good Rob picture!! Honestly, I'm Team Edward all the way, but Rob looks sooo much better without the vampire makeups. And... Lindsey, you're such an AWESOME writer, who is just full of surprises, and definitely NOT a one-trick pony. Sue, thank you for interviewing her. I enjoyed reading the whole blog! :)
