YogaGal's interview with Twiboy

As a co-host for the FML Contest, one of my jobs was to assign and email out all the prompts that people wrote in for. In doing so, I got to see a lot of familiar fanfic authors pass through our inbox, and also had the pleasure of discovering new ones. One stood out amongst the masses and definitely struck a chord in me. I wrote the author back and suggested that if twitter was not a part of his world, it should be. Twitter led to g-chats which led to finding my fic husband, Twiboy.

In a fandom where everyone seems to have a ficwife, I have somehow managed to snag myself the self proclaimed "Bi TwiBoy," and I couldn't be happier. I also couldn't be happier to have a chance to probe <snicker> my boo about writing, reading and all things slashy.

Having only written two one shots for Twilight, TwiBoy is a new(ish) author, yet already has built up a substantial following - not without merit. Both of his stories, while completely different, are gripping tales that leave you wanting more. In his first story, The Bronze Prince, TwiBoy tells the AU tale of Edward and Jasper and how one night changes both of their lives. While slash is always fun to read, VampSlash is certainly a treat, as the majority of slash in the Twi fandom tends to veer towards AH, and TwiBoy does the VampSlash justice!

In his "Devirginizing Edward" contest entry, Beautiful Distraction, TwiBoy tells the story of Edward's first time. Without giving much away, I will say that this fic is utterly endearing, combining a mixture of sweetness and sizzling hotness all at once. As a reader you find yourself championing Edward and wanting him to not only get the guy but keep the guy as well. TwiBoy does a wonderful job of getting you into Edward's head and has you feeling both for Edward as well as Seth. Everyone else seems to love this one shot as well, since TwiBoy just won first place in the Devirginizing Edward contest in addition to the prize of "best handjob." He seriously does a wifey proud...

With both of these one shots under his belt, it will be a treat to see what new fics he has coming around the bend. For now, join me and TwiBoy (from our ficbed in our fichouse) as we chat Twilight, slash and cute boys...

***************************

Thanks for agreeing to be interviewed. I promise I'll make this as painless and enjoyable as possible. I'm kind of honored that I get to pop your (interview) cherry btw. I think there's a long line of fangirls who are ready to beat me up for that honor *snicker* but we'll get to that later...

First up is the burning question that everyone wants to know: what brought you to Twilight? To Fanfic?
I saw Twilight before I read the books. The movie sucked in my opinion, but the eye-candy made it worth it. I enjoyed reading the books for the most part but wanted to bang my head against a wall after reading Breaking Dawn. Wide Awake popped my fanfic cherry - loved it. I then discovered slash fiction - Over the Top was incredible and I kinda shunned canon ever since.

So, you've written a few one shots - do you think you'll stick to doing those, or do you have plans for any multi-chap fics in the future?
I'm fleshing out some ideas I have for a multi-chapter and already wrote the prologue. I'm not a fan of reading heartfail of any kind, but for some reason, that is exactly what this is shaping up to be. I plan to make the ending as happy as plausible, but the road to that ending will be 13.4 kinds of bumpy.

Yikes, I'm not sure how I feel about that(your wife is a total wussperv). But I'll trust you. I know whatever you do with it, it will be pretty awesome
*whispers* Dannie7786 read the prologue and it made her cry. I felt bad, but I ain't changing it *cringe*
Then, you'll just have to hold me as I read it.
LOL - I need someone to hold me as I write it...kinda difficult.

So, tell me about the various slashy contests you're involved in.
Well, I entered the Devirginizing Edward contest with Beautiful Distraction and I started writing a one shot for the FML contest but time and various responsibilities got the best of me and I didn't have my entry completed in time. I've also been asked to be a judge for the No Bella Allowed Contest. I promise to not unfaily judge against non-slash entries (although copious amounts of alcohol may be necessary)

Ok, on to the nitty gritty. In your o/s Beautiful Distraction, you wrote about Edward's first time. How did you come up with the idea behind it?
Um....*clears throat*
Yes-s-s-s?
Well...the sexual experience itself played out a lot like my own first time with a man. Not down to the letter, but I drew a lot on that experience. The nervousness, anxiety, how very lucky I was to be with a man who took his time and cared about me. It was pretty personal.

It was really sweet, if I can fangirl for a bit. So, can we talk a little bit about you being a boy? You're sort of like the magical unicorn of Twi fanfic.

*deep breath* Hit me, wifey.

There aren't many guys who 1. even admit to reading/liking Twilight, let alone fanfic, and 2. actually write fanfic. So...how do you feel about being that sparkly unicorn amongst all us crazy ladies
It's a bit (ok, so it's a lot) odd for me, because IRL, I'm not that big of a deal. I don't understand why there aren't more guys in the fandom and can certainly understand the novelty but I do feel odd at times with some of the attention I get.

Diving deeper...do you find it strange (for lack of a better word) to read slash written by women?
Strange? Not at all. Am I fucking grateful? Yes, because as we discussed, there aren't many other guys writing it, so really? Who's left? *grin*

There are a lot of very talented slash authors out there.

Have the ladies managed to get it right? I mean, I don't have a prostate or a dick, you know? So I always get nervous about writing that sort of shiz, hoping that it's accurate. There's only so much a gal can learn from watch the boypr0n...
Well, you have the handful of stories where someone forgets to use lube, or zero prep for an inexperienced participant and I wanna say, 'Bend over! Let me see how you like it?' Seriously though, for the most part, the authors that take their time to write a good story, don't have a problem. A little imagination, a lot of common sense...and maybe some Wiki if you're confused about the prostate help a lot - LOL

But what about the boy pr0n? shouldn't I be watching more to get some tips?
Yes - load up on the boy porn. If nothing else, you'll have sometime for your alone time if you fail to get nothing else out of it *grin*

Ok, lets get back to talking about fic, b/c that's why we're here, right? What's the hardest part about writing slash in your opinion? The best part?
I really don't have a hard time writing slash, because I thoroughly enjoy it. I would have to say, though that it is disheartening that slash fiction is almost looked down on and overlooked. That kinda plays out like homo/bisexuality does in real life. You have many more people wanting to either shun you (to put it mildly) or just wish you didn't exist, than you have supporters.
The best part about writing slash would have to be what I would imagine would be the best part of writing about anything you're passionate about. You get to control the story line and write what you would like to read.

Let's talk about your writing style for a bit. Do you do anything special while writing a chapter like listen to special music or do you need total silence? Do you eat an entire bag of M&Ms or drink heavily? Perhaps peruse the Corbin Fisher website? *winks*
Well, aside from my Corbin Fisher addiction (I prefer to call it dedication, but anyway...), most of my writing binges have been fueled by Amp, which you know that I all too recently had to give up. *pouts* As far as music goes, I always have to have something on in the background. The Spill Canvas and Massive Attack are really easy to write to.

What do you do after you click the submit button?
You mean, besides quell the urge to vomit from anxiety? LOL
Aw, bb. but yeah.
When I posted The Bronze Prince, I didn't expect any kind of response. If I did get a response, I was certain it was gonna be along the lines of 'What is wrong with you?' I was incredibly nervous so, I shut down the computer and went for a run. After I posted Beautiful Distraction, I tweeted about it, shut down the computer, and spent some alone time with the fiance *grin*

What do you LOVE to see in FF that you read?
I love love. I'm a romantic, so as much as I love to read some straight up porn in a fic, it's just so much better for me if there are some genuine feelings there,

*OK FANTASY TIME*
If you could have 15 minutes with any Edward- FF or SMs - which one would you choose and what would you do?
I would have to go with Edward from The Forbidden Room by Definately Staying *bites lip* What would I do? Whatever the fuck he told me to.

If you could ask any Twilight Cast member a question who would you ask and what would your question be?
I would ask Jackson if he would ever consider playing the role of a gay man in a movie where Robert Pattinson played opposite him as his love interest! *grin* Seriously, though - I would like to ask Robert Pattinson what his plans, if any, were for his music because I would dearly love to see that man play live one day.

Do you have any slashy rec's for us that you think others *must* check out?
I'm pining big time for an update of C-Me-Smile's Begin Again. You want some sexy angsty romance? There you have it. I'm normally a little wary about a cheating Edward and avoid such fics, but I'm compelled to make an exception with this one. Very beautiful story. Other fics I'm a fan over are: A Tangible Dichotomy by Perfectly Pursuasive, Your Biggest Fan by OfTheDamned, Mergers and Acquisitions by Domward's Mistress and Touchstone67, Simple by SubtlePen, and Broke by Pashtess.

Oh! and let's end with the most important question *snicker*. Who do *you* see as your Edward and Jasper (and Seth!)
Since I saw Twilight before reading the books, I automatically pictured Rob and Jackson as Edward and Jasper while reading the series and while reading fanfic. However, I picture Jackson more as himself - dark hair, a little bit of scruff - certainly not with that curly mess they call a wig in the movies. As far as Seth goes, if we're talking an adult Seth (since I didn't exactly write a 14-year-old in Beautiful Distraction *snicker*), I have no clue who this guy is, but is my Seth:

Thanks SO much for allowing me the pleasure of interviewing you!!

Thank you for asking me - I'm honored!
